Breaking Barriers Media Gathering

On August 11th, the Breaking Barriers team had the opportunity to meet and converse with several members of the media through a media gathering held at Kedai Tjikini, Jakarta.

Our founder, Fonnyta Amran, shared her thoughts about her upcoming study in Scotland and the scholarship she received, the current state of women and arts in Indonesia, and about The Breaking Barriers Initiative itself.

In this joyous opportunity, we were joined by Mr. Ainsley Mann from the W.M. Mann Foundation. A notable business leader and philanthropist, he talked about his dream of improving Scotland and Indonesia's relationship through the arts and culture.

As a trustee of the W.M. Mann Foundation, Mr. Ainsley has bestowed the first ever Bill & Aileen Mann Scholarship Programme for Indonesian Master’s Students to Fonnyta to aid her studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Master of Arts of Classical & Contemporary Theatre Directing.

This media gathering is the first step towards introducing Breaking Barriers' mission to empower females and underrepresented groups through arts training and collaboration.

To all media partners and journalists, we'd like to extend our deepest gratitude for supporting The Breaking Barriers Initiative.
