Hello.

Fonnyta
Amran

Theatre director, producer, activist.

A theatre director and producer with a passion for pushing social boundaries through performing arts.

Fonnyta is drawn to realistic theatre and scripts with dark undertones. Her motivation in directing is often driven by the desire to highlight differing perspectives in the increasingly polarized Indonesian society, combat conformism, and challenge the conservative mindset.

She is a fan of human complexities and behaviours and believes that any stage production should give the audience a glimpse of the real struggles of being human while at the same time providing them a space to escape.

  • In 2021 Fonnyta initiated an experiential theater training program (a series of online training mixed with hands-on practice to experience being involved in an actual production) titled JPACAdemy which successfully trained 20 youths aged 15 - 24 years old.

  • In 2021, Fonnyta received a scholarship to pursue a Master's Degree in theatre directing at the world's top 5 Performing Arts schools - The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, UK , for 2022/2023

  • In early 2022, Fonnyta led a project of a performing arts capacity-building initiative called Triple Threat Academy, a collaboration with the US Embassy, the Arts Envoy Initiative, and The Canales Project. The project provides intensive training by  US professional artists for young emerging Indonesian artists, in three categories: Artisty, Advocacy & Entrepreneurship.
