BREAKING BARRIERS

BREAKING BARRIERS is a space to empower Indonesian female creative artists in their journey to becoming creators of arts, initiated by Fonnyta Amran.

The BREAKING BARRIERS initiative was started as part of Fonnyta’s fundraising effort to support her Theatre Directing study at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the UK in September 2022/2023, for which she received a scholarship.

The  BREAKING BARRIERS initiative aims to open doors for other women to build their confidence in becoming creators of arts.  This is a space to collaborate, learn from each other, and network to simplify the journey of becoming a female creator of arts. 

As a first step toward achieving the mission, The GIVING VOICES PROJECT (GVP) was launched.  The GVP focuses on the playwriting aspect of creating a performing arts production, consisting of a new play development collaboration by three emerging female writers and a series of playwriting workshops for young girls.
